Project: 1968 Mercury Monterey

Project: 1968 Mercury Monterey
This is the story of the restoration of my 1968 Mercury monterey

I have used this car in the states for about six years, i have allso taken it on a roadtrip from Florida, up the east coast to Maine across the country to Seattle, down the west coast through California to Las Vegas, Colorado and back to Florida again. (35 states in 3 months)
After the roadtrip i moved back to Sweden, where i´m still living today. (i am Swedish / American)
About 3 years later i decided to bring the Mercury to Sweden as well to restore it.
I visit the US quite fequently sense half my family lives there.

Ps. tha dates are not right (it had to be this way in order for the newest event to end up last on the page)

The Mercury is transported to my garage in Umeå

The Mercury is transported from my dads garage in Norsjö where it´s been sitting sense i brought it to Sweden, about two years ago.
The destinated city where i live is Umeå.

The right rear fender has a really fucking huge dent on it.
I had nothing to do with the creation of that dent, that was well before my time.

A crate is delivered!

I stumbled over a FE390 motor that has been rebuilt 1987, it´s been sitting in that crate ever sense..
Unfortunately the motor has been repainted red instead of the characteristic blue paint, but who the hell gives a damn.
(In the background you can see my Volvo C202 terrain vehicle allso called Valpen by the Swedish army.)

The motor is taken apart and inspected (After all, it´s been sitting in a box for over twenty years.)
I had to send one cylinder head to the workshop when one valve was rusted shut.
